company, great music, great dancing, great kai, and a great night had by all. It was also wonderful to see students from Renew School, and guests, joining in. We thank Mrs Smith, the student committee, and the team of helpers for their behind-the-scenes organisation.
Earlier this week I attended the Association of Integrated Schools’ Conference. Some of the topics covered included: media training in a crisis, NZ Histories curriculum, inclusiveness in special character schools, future-focused learning, education and the law, ERO’s new evaluation model, and a korero from the Hon Chris Hipkins – Minister of Education. It was also an opportunity to talk with leaders from other Integrated schools. With recent changes in the Education and Training Act 2020 there are challenges ahead for Special Character schools and we are well placed to strengthen, and grow, Excellere College in the years ahead.
We are about to start the process of developing a 20 Year Plan for Excellere College. The initial hui will be led by our Land Trust and include Board and staff input. This will inform a discussion document which will focus on the big picture, and then be used to establish a brief for the development of the 20yr plan. We will also be looking to include input from parents and students. Stay tuned for updates on this development.
Blessings,
Graeme Whitehead
