All children are unique and some require extra support due to learning and behaviour needs. We provide a network of resources and support in collaboration with support agencies both within and outside of the school.
ESOL
ESOL (English for Students of Other Languages) is taught by Marja Smith to support students in their bilingualism. We target their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the English language. Depending on the student and their needs they receive between 1-4 hours of learning support per week. Lessons can be one-one, in groups or in class support with the teacher attending the lesson with the ESOL student.
SENCO
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator works with our support team of teacher aides, specialist teacher and Learning Support Coordinators who work collaboratively with the child, teacher and parents to create the best learning environment for the child.
Teacher Aides
Excellere College values the support Teacher Aides bring to our learning environment. This is why many of our classes have Teacher Aide support not only for our students with high needs, but also for supporting the teachers to provide the best learning programme for all students in the class.
External Agencies
We work collaboratively with external agencies as required including Resource Teacher for Learning and Behaviour (RTLB), Ministry of Education (MOE), Te Roopu Kimiora (TRK), Speech Language Therapists and others to ensure the best expertise can be provided for each individual student who may benefit from it.
